1-1 Cardiovascular System: Anatomy and Physiology of the Heart①
１年間海外で過ごして、必要最低限の物で生活して思いました。今まで無駄が本当に多かったなーと。靴なんて20足以上持ってたし、鞄も何個あるかわからないし、着ない服がたくさんある。
ということで帰国後、断捨離してます。すでに大のゴミ袋10個くらいは捨てたり売りました。
もっとシンプルな服を着てシンプルに生活していきたいなぁと思うと、今度は身体のラインが気になって、鍛えなきゃ、、と思います。頑張ろう。。
話はかわりますが、自分が思っている以上にカナダにいる友達と電話したりテキストしたりしてるので（電話は週に4回、テキストは毎日）、日常英会話に触れる機会はあるんですが、医療英語となると話は別。
復習がてら少しずつまとめてみたいと思います。

Definition of the Heart:
Strong, hollow, involuntary muscle
Made up of 2 separete pumps
hollow: 空洞があるという意味
involuntary: 不随意の（心臓は無意識に動くという意味）
心臓は4つの部屋（2atria,2ventricles）からできていますが、ここで2pumpsといっているのはventriclesのことです。収縮して血液を肺と心臓に送り出しているのは左右の下側に位置する心室なので。
ここで単数と複数について。医療英語で習う言葉って、ラテン語からきている言葉が多いんです。
atrium[singlar]: 心房の単数
atria[plural]: 心房の複数
というように、ただ単にsを語尾につけるだけでは複数形にはなりません。
今似たような例で思いつくのfungusとfungiだけだな・・。笑（真菌の単数と複数）
Anyhoo, let's move to the Location:
Between the lungs
Behind the rib cage
Center of the chest, slanted towards the left
Slanted = at an angle
上記では左側に傾いているという意味です。
Pericardium: Covering of the heart
心膜
ちなみに心膜炎はpericarditisです。
この記事でsuffix: -itisは炎症という意味だと説明していますが、これと心膜という単語さえ知っていれば、pericarditisという単語を初めて見たとしてもdecodeできるわけです。便利。
Atrium: 心房
Upper chamber of the heart
chamber: 部屋
Holds blood entering the heart from the veins
veins: 静脈
つまり、静脈から血液が入ってくる場所
Right atrium is connected to Inferior and superior vena cava
右心房は下大静脈と上大静脈に繋がっている
Inferior vena cava: Blood vessel that carries blood from the area below the heart to the right atrium
Superior vena cava:Blood vessel that carries blood from the area above the heart to the right atrium
Left atrium is connected to the pulmonary veins
左心房は肺静脈に繋がっている
心臓の血液の流れって、簡単にいうと右心房→右心室→肺動脈→肺→肺静脈→左心房→左心室でしたよね。
肺で血液中に酸素が取り込まれ、oxygen-rich bloodはpulmonary veinsを流れます。
静脈（vein）というと大抵酸素の少ない血液が流れますが、肺静脈は反対で酸素の豊富な血液が流れます。

なんか専門的すぎるかな。
でも医療従事者だと略語をよく使うので、（ASD、VSDとか）医療英語を学ぶ前と比べると、略語で混乱することが少なくなりました。
